Mcafee xp slow

I'm surprised. When they returned from a trip, hadn't used the pc for a couple of weeks and on bootup the problem started. No new programs installed recently. I cleared the history, got rid of cookies and temporary internet files. Guess I'll do a checkdisk and defrag and see it that helps. Any other suggestions welcome.

Well I suppose you could ping the sites you're visiting to see if your ISP servers are slowing or something else on the network. And aside from eliminating one program at a time to see which one could be slowing the system down, I can't offer any other suggestions. Perhaps one app updated unbeknowst to the user and is the culprit?
