I haven't updated much of my software recently, but below is a more detailed description of what happens.

When I have been accessing certain websites or loading certain programs, the applications hang and stop responding. I am forced to restart the computer as all the buttons that could be used to close the program do not load.

The cursor changes to the 'busy' animation and then stops, after which nothing happens. I have tested my patience with it, and after a few minutes, it makes a response and quickly loads all the programs that I tried running. I have noticed that when a program hangs it may say Not Responding in the title bar, the icon for the program changes to a little white box thing and the 'busy' animation for the cursor is displayed. I wasn't trying to load that program, so it must be the background program that may have been causing that.

DivX 6 - recently installed, don't know why it would affect loading programs and websites. I installed the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service a little while back which is meant to speed up the shutdown process I tried it out because Norton Internet Security which is another possibilty for this current problem was causing it to hang on shutdown. I will try to post more information on here soon, sorry if it doesn't seem like a lot of information - I know that things like this are annoying, repetitive, and can be difficult to resolve.
